That happened to me, I wanted to upgrade my CPU from an i7 4470 to like i9 13900 or something powerful, realized too late that my motherboard didn't had the appropiate socket, so I was "forced" by my own stupidity to buy a new motherboard, which had DDR5 instead of DDR3 or 4 (idk what I had), and realized that my 750W PSU wasn't enough if I had 100% use on CPU and GPU (I had a 3060 TI) so my own stupidity made me buy a new PSU (thankfully it had a discount and I was able to get a 1250W 80plus Platinum? for almost no money).

~1300 in total for the upgrade, my mid-tower case was enough to hold everything with no problems.
