I shit you not this was exactly my problem few months ago.
Stupid things spiral so easily when you need to change one thing.
I gave my GPU to my sister. Then 6 months later I needed a new GPU, but my CPU is a 6th gen Intel which can't be upgraded. So I had to buy a new CPU anyways because my motherboard was dying with a both USB headers not functioning. My case would have to be reused, but then I'd have a naked motherboard with an AIO, which is a waste considering it still works fine and I want to build a VM server with it. So I had to buy a new case. Didn't help Microsoft basically said my CPU can get fucked and won't be getting a Windows 11 upgrade so my titties were twisted into doing this upgrade if I wanted to continue using it for working from home.
Would've been nice if I could just pop in a new CPU with the same socket type and just move on.
