The announcers drool over everything lebron does. they say nothing when he has a bad turnover or the fact he misses a free throw near the end then misses a wide open three.Meanwhile murray has had more big clutch plays in the last 2 seasons than lebron has had in ten years.Lebron is all time but his clutch gene has always been average for a guy that's been to itleast 10 finals he doesn't have many big time clutch shots as you would think.Again lebron is all time but he seems to fade down the stretch. This game he hit some big shots in the fourth qtr. When he missed the wide open 3 to seal it the greatest to ever do it in my mind comes into question. Did jordan ever miss a shot like that. You can always find a flaw in any one Lebron is all time great but to be fair his clutch gene isn't all time.He seems to get a pass when it comes that part of his game.

0

u/Op3rat0rr Lakers 9d ago

You kind of started rambling towards the end but I do agree that LeBron gets quite a lot of favoritism and he doesn't really have that clutch gene either

2

u/RealPunyParker Lakers 10d ago

"We blew the lead, we had them"

"DLo was red hot this time but Rui and Austin sucked"

"Refs missed calls"

At some point, we need to enable the "We are not as good as Denver" arguement.

We won't have 4 winning games where all 5 of our players play fantastically, this is not happening. We're not as good as Denver, we're the 7 seed playing the 2 seed, it's not a difficult series to solve.

Is Jokic the Tyson Fury of Basketball? He seems to be gypsy and always jinxing the Lakers😅

2

u/jeaanj3443 10d ago

Jokic quietly dominating with near triple-doubles is just another day at the office for him. His consistency is unreal.

The Lakers were winning this game when they were scoring more points than the Nuggets. Maybe that's an adjustment they can make for the next game.

2

u/Roon-Doggy-Dogg 10d ago

Man I still feel like I’ve been gut punched

2

u/Herbdontana Nuggets 10d ago

I’m just trying to enjoy it. I have never seen a favorite team win a championship before last year. I never imagined that Jokic would ascend to the heights that he has. It’s just glorious.

1

u/commendatore13 10d ago

I really do think this is a better series for Denver. I rather Lakers than Pelicans…

1

u/Good_Schedule3744 Lakers 10d ago

I miss Kobe.

2

u/garrett7289 10d ago

Lol it's okay, denver is just that damn good, I love my lakers no matter what, on to game 3 😁

1

u/Ding-Dong-Song 10d ago

Reggie is still trash. Take him off Denver

1

u/Maleficent_Resolve44 Timberwolves 10d ago

Denver 3peat secured then. A 20 point lead couldn't stop them.

1

u/WATGU 10d ago

Each quarter is a mirror of the other. Q1/Q3 and Q2/Q4. A perfect example of whatever we did to them they can do to us. I tell this to every team I play on at rec level when I see us slacking with a lead.

The hardest part is there were times in this game where lakers were up by 20 but against a team this good and a game this fast paced it just doesn’t matter.

As far as I can tell nobody on LA can guard jokic. It’s devastating to blow such a big lead. Also devastating to lose on a circus shot when you had an easy shot to seal it on the other end.

I don’t see them winning any games unless they can get Jokic out of the game with foul trouble, techs, or injuries. The Nugget big 3 and role players are just better.

As a Kings fan I can’t say I’m sad by it though.

Are the nuggets the least-hated title favorites of the past 10 or so years?

Insane master class by the refs last night. Bravo.

Yeah for real, all those bullshit calls that Lebron got really kept this game close.

I'm a bonafied laker hater. I think I left in the middle of the 2nd quarter to go run some errands thinking the lakers were having themselves a game. I checked the score a few times while I was out and see the score ballooned to a 20 point deficit. I thought the lakers had it. I returned home and it was the middle of the 4th. LOL. I thought how the fuck they... Loved watching the end of that quarter and seeing the lakers lose the way they did was a great way to end the day.

1

u/Dangerous_Bus_6699 10d ago

Don't ever underestimate a man wanting to go home to his horses.

0

u/ContentMod8991 10d ago

how u gon blow 20?? hnron left it wide

1

u/ogBaddust 10d ago

There's no guarantee they win, but I wonder how things play out if LeBron had made that wide open 3

0

u/OskiBrah 10d ago

They win

1

u/ogBaddust 10d ago

Who's to say MPJ doesn't bring it home? He was hot all night from three

1

u/ShoddySalad 10d ago

I went to bed when they were down like 18 lol wtf

1

u/MychalScarn08 10d ago

Nba is rigged these refs call whatever the fuck they want

1

u/garrettj100 10d ago

You guys remember the scene in Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom when Mola Ram reaches into that dude's chest and pulls out his still-beating heart? Cackles like a maniac while the heart catches fire?

I mention this apropos of nothing at all...

1

u/roberiquezV2 10d ago

We can pinpoint the moment that the Lakers lost heart/momentum.

It was when DLO got smacked in the face on a layup in the 4th. Camera footage was clear as day. Denver Refs were like: it's all good, unless Dlo has a broken nose and fractured eye socket we're gonna let it go.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

2

u/Lobisa Trail Blazers 10d ago

I feel bad for the Lakers, they would have a legitimately good chance this year with a competent coach.

6

u/UltraMonarch 10d ago

I was there. I’ve been a nuggets fan for my whole life, and I never thought anything would be better than last year but being there, ten rows up from the nuggets bench, to get to see that happen in real time, to feel the electricity… I’m gonna remember this for the rest of my fucking life man holy shit.

2

u/zeroxray Vancouver Grizzlies 10d ago

I went to bed after the 3rd quarter bc it looked like it was the Lakers night. I woke up pleasantly surprised

1

u/Soten14 10d ago

Should have dropped the pelicans game and went for the Thunder, they don't stand a chance.

2

u/DismalScreen6290 10d ago

Every nuggets Lakers game is the same. Lakers always choking at the end lol

2

u/demsouls Raptors 10d ago

I love every possession that Jamal walks into the lane with reaves trying to play defense behind him. And Jamal just walks and throws it up, literally got him back into the groove, chipped away all the lead, then set up the game winner.

Idk what defensive scheme Lakers are running with reaves behind the ball all the time trying to play catch up. Maybe Westbrook is better after all.

1

u/Healingvizion 10d ago

I’m convinced Lebron would have 2 more titles and been GOATED if it weren’t for that light skin cat Curry and that homey from Europe Jokic.

2

u/EliachTCQ 10d ago

Jamal's game winner gets all the attention, but the reality is the game was already lost by the Lakers. No way in hell they would've won it in OT. The game was lost when Lebron missed the 3.

1

u/Sine_Cures 10d ago

Lakers looking to extend their moral victory streak against the Nugs.

1

u/wiejd 10d ago

Bench needs to step up for the lakers including other starters besides lebron and Ad. Yeah Russell had a good game but it was still 3 vs 8. Denver has a whole squad that contributes.

4

u/jack_hof Raptors 10d ago

nuggets had more FT's than LA? wowza. guess the refs are like "if you aint gonna use em then we ain't gonna give em to ya."

1

u/nbaistheworst 10d ago

Nuggets win with only 2 players besides Jokic shooting over 50% (MPJ and Braun). The refs not helping the Lakers was a notable change from previous games. Nuggets showing the real clutch time execution once again.

1

u/TimberwolvesDelusion 10d ago

The lakers with 6 bench points. Wow.

It was very funny to see sports media try and sell the Nuggets 8-win streak vs the Lakers as a reason for the Lakers to be angry and hungry instead of the Nuggets having the Lakers number.

4

u/MileHi49er Nuggets 10d ago

In what was honestly a kinda below average game for him... and DEFINITELY a below average game for the team...

He finishes with 27-20-10. It's just absurd. Dude is playing MyCareer on rookie out there.

4

u/KingKongDoom Nuggets 10d ago

It’s funny how Jokic can have a historic night and it feel mid. I feel like I’m out here watching Jerry Garcia in his prime every night and I’m unable to fully appreciate it no matter how bad I want to.

3

u/MileHi49er Nuggets 10d ago

That's facts.

ANY other player in the league drops 27-20-10 in the playoffs, and that would unquestionable be the leading story in all of sports the next day.

Jokic does it, and it's barely mentioned as a footnote. Something about the way he is able to do it is just so effortless that it comes across pedestrian...

2

u/knightro2323 Magic 10d ago

Jokic does it, and it's barely mentioned as a footnote. Something about the way he is able to do it is just so effortless that it comes across pedestrian...

its only mentioned because he did it 4 times vs 1 for any other player, other than its just Monday for him.

6

u/Furqan23 Celtics 10d ago

Watching Jokic in the post is absolutely amazing.

I get Davis was winded but this is still a top defender getting absolutely worked by the joker

That’s not even a slight against AD, he was simply helpless down the stretch. Ball fakes, step through moves, spins and up and unders

Just beautiful to witness.

6

u/rockies20 10d ago

Lakers fans complaining about refs is pure gold

What a gut wrenching loss. Up 20 and about to break your losing streak against the champ Nuggets, only to blow the lead and lose on a buzzer beater in the face of the guy who just complained about not being considered a DPOY

Just brutal

Edit: holy shit how could I forget AD getting trapped in the Nuggets celebration. Fucking loss of the year

1

u/philphan25 Bulls 10d ago

As an east coaster who went to bed when the Lakers were up 20, wtf?

3

u/moonrulesnmbr1 Nuggets 10d ago

It was beautiful. I was at the game and saw families leave with 5 minutes left in the 4th. They missed out for sure.

3

u/OldPlan877 10d ago

I can imagine it ten years from now.

“LeBron made his own super teams, while Joker’s second option wasn’t even an All-Star!”

End me.

2

u/penguin_torpedo Nuggets 10d ago

I don't get why they stopped giving the ball to AD after that first half.

I'm sure there's a reason but idk what it is. Did they just have no hope that he would continue the hotstreak?

3

u/MileHi49er Nuggets 10d ago

Once we switched Aaron Gordon to defend AD... he just disappeared.

3

No franchise is more deserving of this than the Lakers. Been a Nuggets fan since 1987.

Denver barely won. Lakers might win the next game just based on the momentum of reducing the number of points they lost by.

4

u/nbaistheworst 10d ago

Key word, "might".

2

u/Appropriate-Cap-4140 10d ago

I think an underrated part of Jokic is his fitness, he's either never gassed or really good at playing through it

-2

u/No-Inspection8910 10d ago

Lebron is just not a killer never has been. This is th3 different betwen winning and loosing that game it cant get more obviouv and easier than that. The end grow if you find this emotional cause its simply pure facts..

3

u/fisheh Spurs 10d ago

I'm screaming during that fucking 3rd quarter for ham to call timeout, like 8 misses in a row and LeBron AD moving slow????

1

u/leaguethrowaway1996 10d ago

Man if we can’t win a game when Dlo shoots 7-11 from three there’s no world in which this is anything other than a sweep. It’s sad for me that Lebron is still playing at this level but likely won’t have anything to show for it with regard to shifting the GOAT debate. I’m not firmly in either MJ or Lebron’s camp but it seems like the reality is that the only thing which might move the needle is another Lebron title, and it sure looks like that ain’t happening.

4

u/juandell Heat 10d ago edited 10d ago

Why would it be sad for you?

MJ/LeBron GOAT camps seem to fundamentally value different things. I don't think another championship would really move the needle on people's GOAT opinions, maybe in people's top 10 ranking wherever a person had LeBron.

If he did win another title with a team would've taken more time for less rings, sub 500 finals record, 9 less scoring titles, short a DPOY, no dynasty, etc.

I think fans old enough to see a 3peat have a very different idea/opinion of what greatness and dominance is compared to younger ones. It's all subjective at the end of the day.

1

u/Khorre 10d ago

My opinion on the GOAT debate is you can't base it on Champs, because then Mike isn't the Goat.

1

u/Shikizion 10d ago

So we can actually call this a Jokic casual triple double... It seemed like this time all he wanted was Jamal to play and still he comes out with a triple double, wtf is that man

2

u/nbaistheworst 10d ago

And not just any triple double, but 27/20/10 with 2 steals

0

u/SAd_KyloRen 10d ago

In another universe somewhere way out there, we win this game. Take control of the series. Play Lakers basketball. Go all the way to the finals. Beat the Celtics. Stun the world. But no, we had to lose this game and sadly live in a different universe.

5

u/Joh951518 Warriors 10d ago

Lakers are the absolute best team in the NBA at ALMOST beating the nuggets.

3

u/broke_boi1 Lakers 10d ago

1

u/classy_dirt7777 10d ago

When he's playing with Bronny next year on the only team dumb enough to give Junior a contract, we'll all have enough comedy to make it worth it.

4

u/Abject_Bank_9103 10d ago

You can generalize a teams core characteristics in 4 areas:

  • Physical attributes (size, athleticism)

  • Player skills (shooting, dribbling, defending, etc)

  • Team chemistry

  • Team strategy (coaching comes in here mainly, and players like LeBron/Jokic/CP3 who are your floor generals)

For a team to win a series, you typically need to be better than your opponent in AT LEAST one of the above. They're not all created equal either - strategy and chemistry are more important imo than physical attributes.

But the Lakers are not better than the nuggets in any of these. That's why you see a game going almost perfectly for the Lakers, and so poorly in many ways for the nuggets, yet the nuggets still won.

I just don't see a way for them to win 4 of the last 5

1

u/MassiveTelevision387 10d ago

Gonna suck for Lebron's legacy to end being curb stomped by a fat white guy 12 times in a row.

5

u/juandell Heat 10d ago

I wouldn't call him fat. Also it wouldn't be less embarrassing if he wasn't white. He loses a lot, a whole dynasty was built on top of him. His legacy will be fine.

2

u/Quirky_Ad_2164 Warriors 10d ago

Definitely a moral victory for the Lakers, they gotta be confident going into the Cyrpt knowing that they lowered the margin to only 2 points. That’s almost worth 1 whole victory by how much confidence that gives them for the rest of the series. Lakers in 6.

1

u/juandell Heat 10d ago

Half glass full guy

1

u/igger26 10d ago

You mean a game where nuggets where unprecedented bad in first half, and your 3 best players had some of their best game in long time, just to lose is a moral victory?

1

u/nh1922 10d ago

Had Reaves and Rui stepped up, the game could be closed. They missed too many shots early and late in the game while not being the best assets on defense.

Vando, magically heal !

Didn’t watch it but looking at box score it looks like a huge punch in the balls. You have your stars going off, Nugs shooting like ass, even D-Lo going off, ten point lead going into the fourth and you still lose, just brutal

I knew they were in trouble once Davis took that corner 3, then Lebron took I think 3 straight 3s (although he made 2 of them).

u/lumpyfred Jazz 10d ago

This Nuggets team has been firing on all cylinders for a while when it counts and they are fucking special.

Maybe I'm out of line but I feel like they should start getting recognition on a similar level as the Warriors started getting a decade ago

u/dadsmilk420 10d ago

Another moral victory for the Lakers! Great job team

LOL at Lebronze complaining about the refs when he got away with the offensive foul before the bricked 3.

Why would you go away from AD and the pick and roll for such a big stretch? Biggest group of idiots

Fuck this team

5

u/Martin_McFly_Jr 10d ago

Man, Jamal, talk about facing adversity in your own mental prison and your team mates told you to fuck off of that mindset, keep shooting. What a story. This will change his game for the next few games, he gon’ be balling.

The greatest robbery in NBA history was when the Nuggets picked up Jokic in the second round of the draft. The second greatest robbery in NBA history was when Aaron Gordon didn't win the dunk contest, thrice. And the third greatest robbery in NBA history will happen if Jamal Murray never gets selected to an all-star game. This team just plays with chips on their shoulders.

I had ptsd for lakers fans when Jamal hit the buzzer. Reminded me of game one cavs vs gsw in the finals first year KD was there…

5

u/Greyvvolf Lakers 10d ago

One thing about Jokic and Murray; they just keep going. Bad half or quarter? Doesn’t matter, Jokic and Murray both going to get their stats. The Nuggets starting five just really click together. Nuggets have to keep that 5 and just build around them as long as they can.

1

u/Coolguy200 10d ago

Lebron has never had that closet mentality. Always quits once things gets hard.

1

u/Jbyrd07 10d ago

Did he quit? Looks like he hit back to back 3’s & just rimmed out an open 3 at the end. Didn’t look like he quit

1

u/illusionofwar Lakers 10d ago

Outside of Lebron/AD/DLo 17 points scored by all other players, not going to get it done unfortunately.

3

u/DogterShoob Nuggets 10d ago

What a fucking game!

3

u/Bob_Horde Bulls 10d ago

I’m honestly not sure which loss was more devastating between this and 6ers. Both teams had the games locked up and blew it in the final seconds of the game

3

u/Dry-Benefit3262 10d ago

Say what you want but LeBron was incredible this game. The block, the passes, the shot making, the 4th quarter. And to do it at his age. I mean sheesh. Definitely one of the most enjoyable games I've ever watched.

1

u/Flimsy-Environment13 10d ago

True! Jokic gave him props after the game. Called lebron the THROAT GOAT!

Austin Reaves can't defend a wet paper back. If you exchange him with PJ Washington, OJ Ananoby type player Lakers would be up 2-0

2

Somebody on the game thread told me he starts cuz he "locks up jamal murray" Lakers fans are delusional tho atleast they got that going for them.

5

u/BillowingPillows 10d ago

I'm kinda surprised that Lebron didn't take way less money to bolster the team. Just cause hes near the end of his career and has so much money already, just feels like it would help get this team over the hump.

2

u/myheartismykey Knicks 10d ago

You know what I'm looking forward to the most? Nick Wright trying to mind fuck his way that this isn't over and this is a moral victory for the Lakers. Dude can have some decent takes but his Fandom kills his analysis at times.

NBA playoff basketball is so much better than March madness, womens or mens

5

u/Tall_Succotash Lakers 10d ago

At this point for the lakers to ever beat the nuggets we need to be up by 50 in the fourth quarter

Good luck to the rest of the conference, there is no beating this team lmao

2

u/J_Kingsley 10d ago

My man, that's the feeling of the inevitability of jokic.

You just KNOW jokic is going to win, no matter what, no matter how.

That was the feeling of MJ. EVERY. FUCKING. YEAR. And that's the feeling modern viewers never experienced not watching MJ live.

I feel like jokic will haunt the league the way mj did lol.

1

u/Quiet-Spray1223 10d ago

Still not for certain

5

u/Raonak Warriors 10d ago

The great thing about not making it into the playoffs is I can peacefully watch lakers get completely and utterly fucked

1

u/pinheadlarry411 10d ago

I know this is probably a joke, but take it from someone who has kicked smoking twice for months at a time and is attempting his third. Every week is a horrible week to quit smoking. Just push through, you got this.

1

u/bettahavemyhoney Lakers 10d ago

I appreciate that. The first 5 days were awful but it's getting better.

3

u/HumongousMelonheads Nuggets 10d ago

Nuggets other than MPJ and Jokic were 0-20 for threes in this game. Frightening stat for the lakers. Nuggets can’t be worse on offense than they were tonight

4

u/boydivision30 Nuggets 10d ago

Man MPJ saved us today timely shot after timely shot just to keep our heads above water.

1

u/edwardhyeung Nuggets 10d ago

I know I'm kinda nitpicking but the proliferation of on-court ads have really worsened the viewing experience

1

u/leagueofcipher Celtics 10d ago

LA has D’Lo, Dinwiddie, and Reeves. How is it that when Lebron sits on the bench, nobody understands how to run an effective offense?

3

u/Chuggs1798 Nuggets 10d ago

lost a lot of respect for Bron in that post game presser.. throwing the dudes question aside and just ripping the league for its replay system. Nuggs really gonna make Lebron retire

-1

u/Jbyrd07 10d ago

You mean how he always says how great the nuggets are just like he did last year. That lost your respect for LeBron bc he feels Dlo getting hit in the face should be called? lol

1

u/Chuggs1798 Nuggets 10d ago

It's not the reason they lost. They had a challenge and 2 timeouts. Def out coached and out worked at the end. They blew a 20 point lead in 3rd quarter. That one missed call is not a big deal

1

u/Jbyrd07 10d ago

I thought we were talking about you losing rest for LeBron, not about how the Lakers lost?

Lebron getting Lebronto'd by a Canadian LMAO

1

u/anomnisoul 10d ago

AD is a great defender, just not elite. Maybe DPOY type candidate at points but he really doesn’t shut down the lane like you would expect. Murray got some rhythm at the end of the game by driving inside for layups. I can remember two drives where AD was there in the lane but for some reason didn’t really contest, like he was afraid to leave his guy. So end result is Murray with an easy layup. Not sure how you want to be DPOY with defense like that.

2

u/ronk48 Lakers 10d ago

Nuggets just too good. Lebron and AD gassed by the end and nuggets execute to perfection. Same script every game. Some of the calls were awful though. Dlo gets raked across the face and no call. Lebron getting called for that ticky tack foul on Murray at the end when they had been letting them play physical all night

24

u/WhoWightMan 10d ago

This comment will be lost to the void but it must be said - MPJ the true hero of this win.

2

u/abeLJosh Suns 10d ago

The Nuggets really decided to troll around by having two rough games and letting the Lakers get ahead of them, only to then Nugget the games up and now lead 2-0.

How. How do you stop this team?

How do you stop Gru

1

u/thunderjetstrike 10d ago

The biggest question after the game, who is Lakers’ daddy? Jokic or Jamal?

-5

u/cadoavodo Lakers 10d ago

damn they really flipped that flagrant call, GGs

4

u/Jeff8711 Nuggets 10d ago

Idk what's crazier the lakers fans crying about refs for once or you guys using that as your main excuse for losing when ad had 0 shots in the 4th quarter after being so dominant. Blowing an 18 point lead and a 20 point lead has nothing to do with the refs you guys are just poorly coached and it shows.

-2

u/cadoavodo Lakers 10d ago

Oh you hurt hurt LOL

2

u/Jeff8711 Nuggets 10d ago

I think you got that backwards bro my team didn't just blow back to back 18+ leads I loved watching that game. You and every other laker fan upset we won our challenges and the refs couldn't get you atleast 1 win this series. It's just crazy to me darvin ham wasted the end of lebrons career like this.

3

u/McSkittlez_ Warriors 10d ago

Don’t worry Laker fans. Ham saved his tactics for next game.

4

u/Opulescence Thunder 10d ago

I was just thinking. This is probably the worst playoff game I've seen Jokic play in the playoffs since last year against Minnesota but he still got a 27-20-10. Dude was legit getting made a bitch by a supernova hot AD at one point and he still arguably outplayed AD when all was said and done. Fucking amazing.

The ask on AD is massive this series. Play like "the guy" on offense, guard Jokic the entire fucking game, stay out of foul trouble, and battle on the boards against a bigger team as the sole big. How many bigs in NBA history would even be capable of that? Duncan, KG, Hakeem, Kareem, Shaq? Giannis and Embiid? Wilt and Russell if you wanted to add the old heads? Shit is crazy.

Of note, any non-AD Laker big on Jokic is just not it. I know AD was in foul trouble, but Jokic is treating any non-AD big like Shaq used to treat Pollard. His eyes light up knowing it's BBQ chicken. A truly impossible position.
