That's no LLM I am aware off. That's a keyword triggering system at best. Looks like absolute shit implementation. Gemini would have non of those conditions as restrictions.
I've played with some new LLM models and I swear to god I think I might be done with humanity now.
My neighbor is a dumb as a stone I rather just give his job to the machine.. Remember when we used to ask to speak to the human.. I'm going back now. The machine did 10x better last time unf**king my amazon something. Get out. The machines your boss now.
xxx.xxx.51.219 Your doing a bang up job. I see promotion in your future. Let me know if the human pisses you off any more.

Is this at a Checkers/Rallys? I ordered at a Checkers with AI. It got my order wrong on the screen, but I think staff were still listening because they got it right at the window
1
u/-non-existance- 8d ago
This is going to last until it starts telling customers they can order things not on the menu, quoting incorrect prices, and/or getting spammed with slurs.

u/idk_man_sheesh 8d ago
Instead of “that’s it” we should all just say
“ all humans are vermin in the eyes of Morbo”

u/ManyNicknames15 8d ago
I would be saying, "team member" every single time. These AI machines oftentimes pick up background noise and it might as well be like I'm talking with food in my mouth, or marbles.

u/Fascist_P0ny 9d ago
When I worked in fast food my favorite part was doing impressions and accents when taking orders.

That's a huge NOPE for me. Is this CA? I can see corps using AI with a $20/hr min wage.

AI is "I'd like a vegetarian meal including a side and a sandwich with a Diet Coke that is under 1500 calories" and it suggesting a meal.
"I would like one Grilled Cheese" adding one grilled cheese to your order is a voice assistant.
They just call absolutely anything AI now.

Christ I hate that every CEO in the world saw AI become decent and decided to go for it as hard as possible no matter how mid it is in any actual applications 🙄🙄🙄

u/ImReallyFuckingHigh 9d ago
I do a mobile order 99% of the time I go through a drive through, end up being less than 15 words and interaction between both me and the person taking orders. If AI could accurately sign in a mobile order I honestly wouldn’t care too much
1
u/McPivot 9d ago
Oh boy! They’re hiring? Swell! Here’s my resume:

The people saying anything about raising the minimum wage being what caused this... do you really believe this wouldn't have happened even if the minimum wage was still $7.25? These companies have been making record profits for decades and using that money to invest in these types of "upgrades" rather than paying their people more money. Stop taking the company's sides you morons.

u/iKMSshitfuck 10d ago
My BK isn’t fully AI, but they have a funny enthusiast pre played greeting that’s like “Hey! welcome and thank you for choosing BK! You rule!” Followed immediately by a cracked out “aye watchu wawnt” that gets me every single fucking time 😂

It's the argument people have been making since AI became prominent in society: If AI takes away all our jobs, nobody will have any $$$ to go buy a hamburger. Or a car. Or a house. Or just about anything else for that matter.
I'm waiting for someone to start the Butlerian Jihad. :)
1
u/Noctilux5 10d ago
I always end up talking to a person. AI ordering is shit, and doesn't work. Try asking for a sauce with your nuggets, it blows all the circuits and it doesn't know what to do, it think you want to make your meal spicy, and says it can't do that.
1
u/rantsandreveals 10d ago
Pulled up to one of these last week and just drove away. I won't be back to Carl's Jr
1
u/wookieSLAYER1 10d ago
Honestly these should be rules and procedures for ordering from an actual person anyways.

I have a lisp so I hate things like this. My google home already doesn’t understand me at times in the best of circumstances. Add in all kinds of outside noise and the AI will thing I am trying to order caviar at a burger place.
1
u/TheRealBaphy 10d ago
I would immediately have either A) pulled off and went somewhere else or b) went inside and ordered. I refuse to use any self checkout or ai assistant. These things just take jobs out of an already suffering society that barely has enough jobs as is. Just another way for mega corps to f over the people so they don't have to pay people fair wages and can keep pocketing even more money than they already were before it's disgusting
1
u/TehGuard 10d ago
McDonald's here uses ai and from what I hear peoples orders are way more accurate and that's depressing
1
u/LoreBreaker85 10d ago
Don’t follow any of these directions, a human would be able to adjust. If they want to use AI then it needs to adjust also.
2
1
u/Ninjaraiii 10d ago
We're getting closer to the movie "Idiocracy" every day. Make sure to order your extra big-ass fries.
1
u/Randomness_Ofcl 10d ago
I never thought I would say this… but I think I would trust the human worker’s more, knowing how shitty the mics are on these stands, that and you being far away, ai is prob going to ring up every other order incorrectly
Also accents…
cars…
Or anything outside of your control that makes noise

u/SGTpvtMajor 10d ago
Awesome - they can't replace every worker in there fast enough.
So tired of pulling up to, "Yeah?"
And having them make it wrong anyway, all for $25 for 2 people.
Replace alllll the workers in fast food with robots, we have models that can do it better than teenagers.
And then everyone can stop complaining about the wage. It just won't exist anymore.

Fun fact: these AI drive thrus actually have humans working remotely to review orders and verify their correctness, so not only do they have an AI taking orders now, but they also have humans taking the same orders to ensure the AI doesn't fuck up.
Amazon just recently decided to end its "just walk out" feature for its amazon grocery stores where AI was supposed to keep track of the contents in your cart and charge you once you left the store, circumventing the need to check out at a register. But guess what? It also relied heavily on remote workers to verify the carts' contents!
All these companies heard the term "AI" and decided it could do whatever stupid shit they could think of without actually considering whether or not the tech is suited for what they're trying to do, so they had to put up these facade implementations where they pretend to be paving the way for the future with AI while sending more jobs overseas, effectively spending the same amount of money (or more) if they had just kept people at the fucking register.
TLDR: "AI" is stupid and relies heavily on remote workers doing the job the "AI" was supposed to do in the first place and the companies trying to implement this shit are run by morons.

Id drive up & ask for a team member immediately. Ain’t no way am i listing to siri fuck up my order.
1
u/flashxs5 10d ago
There's an AI running the drive-thru at the Checkers near me. There is a charmingly hilarious rivalry going on between the AI taking orders and the human working the actual window. The AI is by far their best employee and has increased their speed of service and precision of orders.

u/Shizweak420 10d ago
Rising wages cause prices to go up so removal of wages cause the prices to go down, right?

You don't even need AI for this 🤦.
It's just a simple set of commands. You only need something like Google's speech to text functionality which is the only AI you need.

Customer asks for a team member, the employee should just start talking like HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic.
Query: How can I assist you, meatbag?
Uh, excuse me?
Clarification: You requested to speak with a member of our staff. I have been programed to assist meatbags with the order fulfillment process. Please state the name and quantities of the items you would like to order.
Lamentation: Our ice cream machine is broken.

At $20/hour, fast food businesses in California have to start making personnel cuts somewhere
1
u/PeepholeRodeo 10d ago
Well, they certainly wouldn’t want to take anything out of their insane profits. Won’t someone think of the shareholders?

u/ZandorFelok 10d ago
If you're offended by the 6-9% profit margin of fast food

I would definitely give answers that mean the same thing but are not what the screen says to say then get irritated that it doesn’t understand me on the first try.

u/covidified 10d ago
Say Team Member is the equivalent of pressing zero when you hear a recorded phone message.

u/peepeehalpert_ 10d ago
So what’s gonna happen when all the people that buy fast food and all the other consumer junk, are replaced with AI? Robots don’t need food or clothing.

u/Terrapin2190 10d ago
Wtf man. I hate BK because they started using a recording before a worker would come on to take your order. F that.
1
u/jayBplatinum 10d ago
The ai drive through I have experienced was actually fucking fantastic! So much better than some cunt saying is that all after every word I say. Funny thing is I didn’t know that was a thing and when I got to the window it was a big bearded guy and I said are you the one that took my order that was a really good robot impression and he’s dead serious and says yeah I been practicing that a lot. Then after he hands the food out he tells me and I lost it lol
1
u/Key-Acanthaceae2012 10d ago
So placing your order is just as easy as saying "TEAM MEMBER". Got it.
1
u/Jess655321 10d ago
Apparently a lot of these don't actually have anywhere near a working AI so they are basically just outsourcing it to people in foreign countries who listen to the feed and enter the order.
1

1
u/BeefTopRamen 10d ago
Our local Carl’s Jr has AI ordering now and it is SO slow to listen and respond. I appreciate that this one gives you the option to call a human
1
u/megamanxoxo 10d ago
Honestly I was wondering when this exact thing was going to happen. Unfortunately, I'm not sure AI systems are at a point where this is actually better than ordering with a human. Also those intercom systems have terrible mics and audio which is only going to compound the issue above, oh and judging by the box it has not been upgraded.
1
u/BilbeeBoy 10d ago
So drive throughs are gonna be exactly like customer service lines now. Start the call and immediately start yelling "REPRESENTATIVE"
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Bag1421 10d ago
I left a drive though other day due to ai. I'm petty, give me a human your payjng, hopefully better then minimum wage
1
u/LordOfThe7Kingdoms 10d ago
Nah, the employees definitely just put that sign up to get people to speak clearly and be nice while ordering
1
u/RNCaseMangager 3d ago
And so it begins
