Our GM does not seem to have the insight. Sitting here watching the Knicks and Pacers. How good would Divencenzo looked in red and black? He was a free agent last year coming out of Golden State who can light it up from 3 and the Bulls never even looked at him. Our front office is pretty bad and the Bulls won't get better with those guys in charge. Ever.

Hartenstein will command 20+ million on the open market

he is also CAA and the knicks president was head of CAA basketball or sports division before his job at the knicks , they can pay 16 or 17 million based on early bird exception numbers …so expect him to stay with the knicks.

the bulls have only the MLE , it’s not reasonable to think the bulls have a chance here especially with an entrenched starter in Vucevic .

if he leaves the knicks it will be to a team that is giving him a starters spot and minutes in addition to more money.

Ah yes, a center who won’t duck when the opposing player begins his takeoff

With what cap space?

Hartenstein had a choice to go here before and he didn't. He wanted NY, and I'm sure the knicks are willing to pay him.

I guess pretending to be oblivious is only funny when you do it

He’s not going to want to leave NY unless they offer him an insulting contract(which doesn’t seem likely.)

As far as Knicks centers go, it’d probably be more likely we’d be able to get Robinson in some sort of three team trade for LaVine. But if that happens, I expect Vooch would get traded too, and I think if the Bulls want to trade Vooch badly enough, they’ll have to include a pick, Ayo, or if we’re getting something valuable in return, Caruso.

If there's a way to salary dump Zach and Vuc, then fuck yeah.

The fact we reportedly got offered him, RJ Barrett, and 2 FRP for Zach 2 years ago and we didn’t pull the trigger just pisses me off

31

u/hb-robo May 17 '24

Hartenstein wasn't even on the Knicks 2 years ago.

u/GreedyLoad1898 May 17 '24

bulls hates rebuild thats why

Good lord i hope that is fake

2

u/Tom_Brady_Cheats Alex Caruso May 16 '24

Jesus i never heard that. I'm just going to pretend I didn't even read this and that it was not officially offered, only some report.

In hindsight declining this looks like a massive L but I think at the time most of us wouldn’t have been happy with the return so I understand AK not accepting it. RJ has always been kinda wishywashy, don’t know how good he’ll be or what position he is so it’d be a risk, especially at the time, and Hartenstein was good back then but not nearly as good as today. That being the return for Zach two years ago I don’t think would’ve made a lot of sense

I think it would have depended on the picks. If those were lottery protected picks then yeah, it would have made for a terrible return at the time. Unprotected picks would have been a different story, but there most likely would have been a Fournier type guy added to the trade to match LaVine's salary. I still would pull the trigger on it, but hindsight is 20/20.

I was unhappy the day we acquired him and have been unhappy for the entirety of his stint here. Would be elated to dump him for assets at any time prior to us being stuck with him now. Now we have to attach an asset to dump his contract.

Would have to make some other moves (trading Zach into cap space and potentially also not re-signing DeRozan) to open up the necessary cap space. So there's a lot of moves we'd have to make just for the opportunity to make this move.

With what money? Lol this team doesn’t have cap or avenues to get better. It’s rebuild or 10th seed next year

Every signal in my brain is telling me this is the year to tank (or maybe not full on tank, but embrace the youth even if it means we’re worse).

Lonzo’s contract comes off the books next season, we can get out of LaVine’s contract this offseason, Coby and Ayo would be entering the last season of being the most cost efficient they’re gonna be for the rest of their careers. 2025 is a strong draft class. 2025 is a strong free agency class. We keep our draft pick if we’re bad enough. Everything points to taking a step back this season is the right move.

If we decide to give DeRozan his bag, more power to him, but all that does is push back the date where we can truly start to stamp an identity on this team, and the expiration dates on our bigger contracts never coincide. Lonzo expires but we don’t have much cap space because we resigned Demar, following year Vuc expires but we need to pay Coby and Ayo, following year I’d imagine Demar expires again (after a 3 year deal) but we have no cap space because we just paid Coby and Ayo

Well said. It’s never lined up better for them to tank and the worst part is fans would support it and they still won’t. This franchise just doesn’t care about its fans and the UC will be filled still every night. I am team tank or youth movement at minimum but I know for a fact they will re sign and over pay Demar and that will be it for me as a fan for a little bit of time.

They will trade lavine. Now idk if I would sign hart for 20

6

u/Mr-Chip18 May 16 '24

They will trade Lavine but will have to receive salary back and no matter what they won’t have cap space only the full MLE which is $13 mil. No way they can do $20 mil anyway unless sign n trade

1

u/We5ties May 16 '24

True. They gotta get creative

In basketball GM I traded Zach for Ben Simmons and did other stuff to clear cap space for summer 2025, signed Sengun and in 2027 won the chip with Sengun, Ayo, Coby. Jerry I have a PLAN

3

u/chitownbulls92 Coby White May 17 '24

the "did other stuff to clear cap space" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here lol

24

u/BuffaloGuy_atCapitol Ayo Dosunmu May 16 '24

Someone get this guy in our front office he’s got a plan

11

u/stache_twista PJ Rose May 17 '24

I also signed Trey Murphy III in 2025 and drafted Rob Dillingham in this draft.

Your 2027 champion Chicago Bulls starting 5: Dillingham, Ayo, Murphy, Pat, Sengun. Coby and Dalen off the bench.

Beat Wemby’s Spurs in 6 lol

We'll have the midlevel, but Hartenstein will command 20 per at least.
