Mavs fan here, Luka is going to struggle with the energy of OKC. He might have a good game 1 and 2, but if that Clippers series proves anything, it’s that he’s too out of shape to contribute in a series.
Y’all just gotta watch out for Kai

While I would bet for OKC, I think that Mavs in seven is plausible. Anyways, it is going to be an amazing series. For me, the most interesting in he second round.

Mavs or OKC, does it really matter who wins in what games? Ya'll both getting bounced by the Nuggets OR Timberwolves lol.

They couldn’t win the regular season series’, but you think now somehow they will. Cool.

Timberwolves couldn't win a regular season series vs the Suns and look what happened. Season series is irrelevant to the playoffs.

You guys should be able to get this. I swear if the Clippers were healthy with Kawhi, then they would have most likely whooped the Mavs as they're really overrated and not that good. Rooting for y'all 🤙🏼🤙🏼

It will be a hard fought series but I don’t think they have the defensive personnel to handle us all the way in the series
Both Shai and JDub will cook on the perimeter and Shai especially will get doubled. If our shooters shoot like they have been, it will be no contest.
Chet is gonna be the X Factor this series I think. He will be up against Gafford and will eat against him since his bag is so deep
1
u/preed1196 13d ago
We can say this but Luka and Kyrie were both playing defensively out of their mind last series.
That being said, I think OKC actually takes this in 5 because Luka is hobbled. I struggle to bet against OKC when the Mavs best player has a pretty bad knee sprain
1
u/divulgingwords 13d ago
If we bring Chet out to the 3pt line a lot, Gafford might get played off the floor like we did with V on the pelicans.
-17
u/WanZed11 13d ago
you guys are young and was lucky Zion didnt play. Luka and Kyrie are experienced.
1
u/extremetoelicker 13d ago
Obviously.. as a biased thunder fan Shai deserves the MVP to me. I dont like the Luka fanboys on instagram. This series is/can be great, and although it will most likely result in outrage or ridicule for the losing team, im fine with whoever wins.

4
u/gentlecuddler 13d ago
Shouldn't it be the other way around? OKC swept their first round and are the first seed, so they're the favorites, no?
3
u/WoodsOfKali 13d ago
You are correct you’re just not reading the meme correctly. OKC is unphased is what it’s saying
7
u/extremetoelicker 13d ago
What do you mean? This just means mavericks should be a "threat", and okc just doesnt really care. Looks right.
27
u/carvemynuts 14d ago
I just want the refs to let Dort play defense. I think the man to defend is Kyrie
-7
u/Personal_Bus_1065 13d ago
The refs shouldn't have anything to do with his ability to play defense unless you want him to get away with fouling.
5
u/JR280261 13d ago
quite the opposite actually, it's a matter of will refs let dort actually play physical defense without calling cheap fouls on him

Luka's shooting splits are dookie. It's not that bold to claim okc in 5.
5
2
u/Stxtic1441 13d ago
A big part of it has been his knee injury I think, it’ll probably be more healthy with the days off as the series wears on. But I think Dort is gonna force him to shoot a lot of them.
5
-3
u/LowsPeak 14d ago
Mavs fan here, I think OKC gonna edge it in 6.
2
u/extremetoelicker 13d ago
This is interesting. We dont really know because both teams are good. A cool Mavs fan
2
u/IDespiseFatties 14d ago
Thanks dude. No matter what I think it's gonna be a wild ass 6 or 7 game series. Both second round match-ups in the west are wild.
5
u/Tootsiez 14d ago
Weird to think your team wont win. Luka and Kyrie will bring a new challenge this thunder team havent seen yet in the playoffs and thats just guards who can create.
OKC having home court will be huge in this series but I dont see why you wouldnt be confident in the things the mavs are doing well right now even if luka's step back is not falling.
3
u/Justinyeethahahahaha 14d ago
luka is pretty banged up and shooting isn’t great, if that continues it would be hard to see them beating okc. normal luka and it’s way more interesting

-1
u/Far-Royal-375 13d ago
As a Mavs fan I will say I completely agree with this. THJ was a liability almost the entire season. Kleber is the biggest injury we have currently because ability to let us go small and switching ability on defense is huge. He can also spread the floor as a big man.

u/incrediblect3 14d ago
Let’s not be too overconfident
-18
u/Mediocre_Chemist_663 14d ago
Our defense spoke for itself against NO. If they run the same stifling defense they could clean sweep. I think Chet is going to come up big in this series
1
u/LiveVirus2 13d ago
Overconfidence is the kiss of death. You’re setting yourself up to be frustrated. Of course you should believe your team. Believing in your team and being disrespectful or two different things.
-5
u/arkstrider88 13d ago
Bruh, Harden and PG are 10 times the players that McCollum and Ingram are. Series against Pelicans can't even be considered a real playoff series in comparison to the level of DAL vs LAC. Second round will be the first real playoff test for young OKC, and I think it will be a humbling experience.
OKC is not a usual 1 seed, and Dallas is not a usual 5 seed. OKC doesn't have dominating aura of this year's Boston or last year's Denver. And Dallas, if they started the season with this roster could've easily climbed to top-3 in the West.
Personally I don't believe OKC will make it to WCF this year, they're too inexperienced. Kyrie's leadership elevated Mavs so much, and OKC just doesn't really have a guy like that. Anyone boasting about OKC in 6 or unironically thinking OKC will win a chip this year are delusional and high on regular season performance.
OKC's time will come, but it's just not this year. Roster is incomplete.
12
u/Threshyyyyy 13d ago
Clippers reddit was saying literally the same. This Dallas team is a different beast, better understand that.
6
u/feedmaster 13d ago
I'm glad to see you're not underestimating us like the Clippers. Our defence is finally good again, feels like it's been a decade. Luka shot terribly and we still won. That would've never happened in previous years.
I'm scared of you guys. You have what it takes to make a deep run. Should be an awesome series.
1
u/divulgingwords 13d ago
The problem with comparing the clippers to okc is that the clippers (and Dallas) are built like an early 2010’s team of only 2 guys (when K is hurt) can shoot on the floor. We saw this repeatedly in clippers/Mavs series. Both teams would just go blanks for entire quarters because the 2 players they rely on for points couldn’t score.
On the other hand, for OKC (and Boston/denver, etc), every player on the court can score and that’s a problem for the “vintage” teams.
Should be a fun series.
35
u/incrediblect3 14d ago
Tbh I think Pels were the worst team in this year’s playoffs. I’m not downplaying our teams ability, just honestly judging the opposition.
Also Mavs have 2 bigs.

Put J Dub on Doncic the whole series. We are going to get smashed on the boards.
13
u/Stxtic1441 13d ago
I wonder if Dort gets put onto Kyrie in the second half of games. Kyrie just turns into a demon in so many of games taking over.
8
u/Timelycommentor 14d ago
As long as they protect the ball and force turnovers the boards won’t matter.
116
u/ZC205 14d ago
Luka gonna have to wear Dort like a heavy coat in the middle of summer. He’s gonna hate it and I’m gonna love watching it.
1
u/PastPhase5 12d ago
You think Luka Doncic is worried about Lu fucking Dort? Lmao. I’m not even trying to be mean, but that’s just crazy, man. I gotta stay away from the Thunder sub 😂
2
u/JoshGreenTruther 12d ago
yea I get everyones excited but it’s funny seeing this sub call Mavs fans the most delusional in the league and the reading some of the shit they say
of course every fanbase is delusional lol
2
1
u/Followillfan77 13d ago
Luka averages 32pts/11reb/10ast against Dort in 7 games they have played. Last 5 games going back to 2022 Luka averages 35.4pts/11.2reb/11ast.
7
u/omgwtfisthisplace 13d ago
He hasn't even been efficient with Clippers defense but Kyrie will still be a problem.
8
u/feedmaster 13d ago
He shot terribly vs Clippers. His shot will start falling eventually.
2
u/DirkaDirkaMohmedAli 13d ago
George and Mann aren't exactly bad defenders either, even if Dort is better
2
u/MisterAppelmoesmaker 13d ago
Luka isnt at his best either, I feel like that's gonna cost them the most. Luka and kyrie at 100% win games, obviously, but luka being hobbled I just cant see them winning a full series
1
u/DirkaDirkaMohmedAli 13d ago
this is my concern with my mavs. He really does look like Peg Leg Luka rn
37
u/Illustrious_South135 14d ago
Js pray Dort is smart enough to not get baited into fouls
5
u/OneBlackFairyHunterZ 13d ago
If not, I know cason wont get baited, we saw that with alot of cjs attempts at baiting him

u/IDespiseFatties 14d ago edited 14d ago
Can't wait to see Luka having a meltdown every time he misses a shot because of Dort.
36
u/TomorrowsFuture03 14d ago
I’m ngl I’m prob a horrible fan but these mavs look scary as shit. How the hell we gonna stop lively gafford?
-1
7
u/Stxtic1441 13d ago
It’s gonna be a tough draw, but I would rather play Lively and Gafford over Towns/Gobert and Jokic so.
We’re vulnerable to lobs and Gafford and Lively are both such big lob threats it’s gonna be hard.
19
u/allmyteamsdisappoint 14d ago
Um... they may be the only "bigs" in the league that are as frail looking as Chet. Chet will shut down the paint, while Dort and Dub make Kyrie and Luka's life hell. Even whoever their 3rd best... PJ? He's gonna have the MVP of the league guarding him. If all else fails, we send in Wiggins and he saves basketball again.
4
u/Prhime 13d ago edited 13d ago
Have you seen Daniel Gafford?
2
u/divulgingwords 13d ago
I saw him miss literally every shot that wasn’t a dunk/lob and get foul baited like a college player on defense. He’s athletic and plays hard though.
0
u/PastPhase5 13d ago
Does he not literally have the highest fg percentage in the league? He tied the all time record for makes in a row or something lol
2
u/divulgingwords 13d ago
He literally only dunks. He cannot make a shot further than 3ft from the basket.
-1
u/PastPhase5 13d ago
You’re not watching much basketball, but that’s fine. I’m not being biased, you just clearly don’t know what you’re even talking about.

Cringe.

u/Tornaders 12d ago
Lmao I love when people like you are overly confident in bad takes. You clearly didn’t watch Mavericks basketball this year or even the games OKC played against Dallas. Chet was getting pushed around by Gafford, PJ, and Lively the two times they played as the roster currently constructed.
-13
-17
u/Taltibalti 14d ago
with luka playing the way he is there's no need to worry that much. Kyrie in the 2nd half is a threat though.
4
u/feedmaster 13d ago
His shot will start falling eventually. He did everything else very well against Clippers.
1
u/Taltibalti 13d ago
His knees aren't getting better in a week or even a month. His 3pt shot is gone. Mavs fans went through every game saying his shot would get better but he ended up going 1/10 last game.
